ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S MONSTER OF THE SEAS

by milliethedog @ 2007-12-18 - 17:23:58

My partner and I took a cruise on Royal Caribbean's new Freedom Class ship 'LIBERTY OF THE SEAS' in November.
We were a little sceptical as,with around another 4,000 fellow passengers on board,we expected it to be a little busy.
And it was!

The itinerary out of Miami only had 3 days in port so the remainder was at sea and the sun decks were heaving with bodies of all shapes and sizes.

The ship itself is amazing. It has a huge shopping mall, a large play area,Flowrider(where one can bodyboard),casino,ice-rink,miniature golf,
3 tier restaurant plus an Italian restaurant and steak restaurant.
For those who just want a snack there is a Johnny Rockets where you can enjoy a burger and fries.

Wi-fi is available in staterooms and in certain areas of the ship. You can purchase a 60 minute bundle for US$50.

Of course there is the usual cruise ship spa and gymnasium plus a gents barber shop.

We had a deluxe cabin with balcony which was worth paying the extra for if only to get away from the crowds.

The standard of food throughout the Liberty cruise was generally average or slightly above average though dining in the main restaurant was made into a very pleasurable experience by the attentive staff and in particular our head waiter Fasim who worked really hard to make us happy.

We did have a fillet mignon in Chops Steak restaurant which was really excellent.

A word of warning. Anyone with a black shirt which requires ironing need to tell the staff not to iron the collar as that's what they did to mine and made it nice and shiny!!

All in all an ok cruise but too many people.
